This is a very poor, clumsy, lame misuse of 1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” As believers, the Bible is our source for truth, so when we test the spirits, trying to discern authenticity, we use the Bible as our standard. Nowhere does it say “by the spirit” That is just wishful thinking on the part of false teachers, so they can self righteously declare someone else is not a believer.
In pagan practice, this is known as divination, a serious sin forbidden in the Bible. Not cool, Marcus!
