The extreme emphasis of deliverance in some social media ministries has become very problematic and leads people away from the true gospel. It is not about believing that demons don’t exist at all, but it becomes dangerously heretical when teachers espouse the belief that born-again Christians can be demon-possessed. And beyond that, these teachers have expanded that to include an entire list of made-up demonic entities. Every possible sin is now due to a demon. This is not found anywhere in the Bible.

Their followers are told that if they still have sins in their lives and do not receive the “breakthroughs’ they think should happen, it must be not only just that they need to work on the lifelong task of dying to sin daily, but that there are demons at work that must be banished. And how wonderful that these teachers who are so very “anointed” have made themselves available (usually at high cost events) in order to do deliverance from all these various demons.

This creates fear and dependence. People come to believe they need the move of God, every day or every week, to be saved. The deliverance preacher becomes an intermediary for God which is a highly heretical doctrine.

Here are some resources to understand the dangers of deliverance ministries

Exhibit 1

This Video by Donnie at the Idiot with a Bible channel makes very salient points about the disorder of deliverance ministries using one of Pagani’s videos as a prime example.

Exhibit 2

This video by Mark Ryan at Montana Viking Channel also profiles Alexander Pagani, noting that many deliverance ministries charge money to attend events and for classes that teach students to access supernatural power, a serious transgression known as simony.

Exhibit 3

Another video by Donnie at Idiot with a Bible Channel Here he explains the problem with deliverance ministries elevating the man of God, promoting gnosticism and shifting the focus of our faith from the cross of Christ to demons and sin.
