Bringing Accountability Where None Exists

🌽Another Corny False Teacher Doctrine: 🌽Generational Curses🌽

corny thumb

False teachers use Exodus 20:5 "punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me." as if it is a mystical phenomenon.

False teachers like to frame it as a problem that is supernaturally more powerful than ordinary sin.  They point to generational patterns of alcoholism, abuse and other sin as being passed down. They imply or outright teach that you need intervention like a deliverance, to overcome it. They would have you believe that if you try hard enough and follow their teaching, they can be free of sin completely.  It’s particularly damaging when they imply that things like physical or mental illnesses are a spiritual curse, and lead people away from seeking valid treatments.

We are all born under the curse of Adam, with a sin nature that cannot be remedied by human effort.  Only the sanctification that comes from a true faith in Jesus can cleanse us from sin.

We all will stand before God for the sins we each commit.  We aren’t held responsible for the sins of our parents except to the degree that we participate ourselves. Jesus has broken the curse of sin once and for all. While we will never be free completely til we are glorified in eternity,  we can have peace knowing we are redeemed now.

Generational curses are a false corny doctrine. Now that you know– DON’T FALL FOR IT
